Chandigarh, February 6
A Zirakpur resident was allegedly robbed of his Activa scooter along with Rs 60,000 by three miscreants riding a Bullet motorcycle near the Sector 37/38 light point on February 3.
According to the police, complainant Shishupal Singh was returning after collecting payments from his clients on the Activa late in the evening when the miscreants started following him.
The police said the victim, a commission agent, stopped at the Sector 37/38 light point as the signal was red. In the meantime, the miscreants reached there and hit him with a stick on his head. However, since the victim was wearing a helmet, he was not hurt. “The victim, however, got scared and the three miscreants took away his Activa and escaped,” said a police official.
The police said Rs 60,000, which was collected from 12 persons, had been kept in the glove box of the scooter.
It is suspected that the miscreants wanted to loot the money. However, they took away the scooter to avoid any trouble.
The police were informed and a formal complaint lodged yesterday. The police have registered a case of robbery against unknown persons at the Sector 39 police station.
